The short answer

Corpus Pain & Health provides non-surgical back pain treatment in Corpus Christi at 4639 Corona Drive, Suite 45. Treatment combines manual therapy, mechanical traction, electrical stimulation and targeted exercise, matched to what is actually causing your pain.

Care begins with a full evaluation rather than a scan-and-refer appointment. Most patients start treatment the same week they are assessed, and many notice a change within three to four weeks. Call (361) 226-4600 to book.

Back & Neck Pain Treatment in Corpus Christi, TX

What kinds of back and neck pain do we treat?

Back pain is a symptom, not a diagnosis. The same ache can come from a muscle, a joint, a disc or a nerve, and each one responds to different treatment. The evaluation exists to tell them apart.

These are the problems we see most often at the Corona Drive clinic, grouped by where the pain starts.

Neck and upper back

  • Whiplash and post-collision neck pain
  • Cervical disc bulges and herniation
  • Pinched nerves causing arm pain or tingling
  • Postural strain from desk and driving work
  • Muscle spasm and chronic stiffness

Lower back

  • Sciatica and radiating leg pain
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Lumbar disc bulges and herniation
  • Facet joint pain and osteoarthritis
  • Lifting injuries and recurring strain

Structural and chronic

  • Scoliosis-related pain
  • Spinal stenosis symptoms
  • Post-surgical stiffness and scar tissue
  • Long-standing pain with no clear diagnosis
  • Neuropathic and nerve-driven pain

How is back pain treated with medicine and rehabilitation?

Most back and neck pain improves with medicine and rehabilitation rather than surgery. Our lower back pain treatment in Corpus Christi draws on several techniques at once, because pain that has lasted more than a few weeks usually has more than one cause.

  • Manual therapy — hands-on mobilization of stiff joints and soft tissue to restore movement the muscles have been guarding against.
  • Mechanical traction — controlled decompression that eases pressure on a compressed disc or nerve root.
  • Electrical stimulation — used to interrupt pain signalling and reduce muscle spasm so that movement becomes tolerable.
  • Therapeutic exercise — progressive strengthening of the muscles that support the spine, which is what keeps the problem from returning.
  • Stretching and mobility work — targeted at the specific restrictions found during your evaluation, not a generic routine.
  • Posture and body mechanics training — how to sit, lift, stand and sleep so the injury is not re-aggravated daily.
  • Ergonomic adjustment — practical changes to your desk, vehicle or workstation.

If your pain turns out to need imaging, injection or a surgical opinion, we say so and help you get there. Keeping a patient in treatment that is not working serves nobody.

Injured in an accident?

Accident injury is a core part of what this clinic does. If you have been hurt in a collision or a fall, you can be seen quickly and your treatment is documented to the standard an attorney and an insurer will need.

Car and truck accidents

  • Whiplash and cervical sprain
  • Seatbelt and airbag injuries
  • Lower back injury from impact
  • Headaches following a collision
  • Pain that appeared days after the crash

Motorcycle accidents

  • Shoulder and collarbone injury
  • Road rash with underlying soft-tissue damage
  • Spinal and pelvic impact injury
  • Knee, wrist and hand trauma
  • Nerve pain following a fall from the bike

Slip and fall injuries

  • Lower back and tailbone injury
  • Hip, knee and ankle trauma
  • Wrist and shoulder injury from bracing
  • Neck injury from a backward fall
  • Workplace and premises injuries

Working with your attorney

We work with personal injury attorneys throughout Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend. Treatment notes, progress records and discharge summaries are prepared so your legal team has what it needs, and we can coordinate directly with your attorney's office on request.

If you have not instructed an attorney yet, you can still begin treatment. Do not delay care while a claim is being arranged — gaps in treatment are the single most common problem we see in accident cases, clinically and legally.

Call (361) 226-4600 or email frontdesk@corpuspainandhealth.com to be seen this week.

What happens at your first visit?

  1. History. How the pain started, what makes it better or worse, what you have already tried, and what you need to get back to doing.
  2. Physical examination. Range of motion, strength, reflexes, nerve tension and the movements that reproduce your pain.
  3. Explanation. What we believe is causing the pain, in plain language, before any treatment begins.
  4. Treatment plan. Which techniques, how often, and roughly how long before you should expect a change.
  5. First treatment. In most cases you begin the same day rather than booking a separate appointment.

Allow about an hour. Wear clothing you can move in, and bring any imaging, referral letter or insurance details you already have.

How long does back pain treatment take?

It depends on how long you have had the pain. Recent injuries usually settle faster than problems that have been present for years, because the body has had less time to build compensating patterns around them.

As a general guide, patients with a recent sprain or strain often see meaningful change within two to three weeks. Longer-standing lower back pain more often takes six to eight weeks of consistent treatment before the improvement holds without regular sessions. Progress is reassessed as you go, and the care plan changes if the response is not what we expected.

Consistency matters more than intensity. Three sessions a week attended reliably will do more than five sessions attended only when the pain happens to flare.

Do you treat neck pain specifically?

Yes. If you are looking for a neck pain specialist in Corpus Christi, neck and cervical spine problems are a core part of our caseload — particularly whiplash after a collision, nerve pain radiating into the shoulder or arm, and the chronic stiffness that builds from years at a desk or behind a wheel.

Neck pain is assessed differently from lower back pain. The cervical spine sits close to nerves that supply the arms and hands, so numbness, tingling, burning or weakness in the hand is treated as a neurological finding rather than a muscular one, and the examination reflects that.

When back or neck pain needs urgent care

Most back pain is not dangerous. A small number of symptoms are, and they need emergency assessment rather than an appointment. Go to an emergency department if back or neck pain comes with:

  • Loss of bladder or bowel control, or numbness around the groin and inner thighs
  • Weakness in a leg or arm that is getting worse rather than staying the same
  • Fever, unexplained weight loss or night pain that wakes you consistently
  • Pain that began after a serious fall, collision or other major trauma

If none of these apply, a clinic assessment is the appropriate next step. Call (361) 226-4600.

Common questions

Do I need a referral to be seen for back pain?

No. In most cases you can book directly without a physician referral. What your specific insurance plan requires can differ, so call (361) 226-4600 and the front desk will confirm before your first visit rather than leaving you to find out afterwards.

Will I need an MRI or X-ray first?

No, not in most cases. Most back and neck pain is diagnosed from history and physical examination, and imaging often shows changes that are present in people with no pain at all. Imaging is recommended when the examination finds something that genuinely needs it — progressive weakness, suspected fracture, or pain that is not responding as expected.

Can you treat pain from a car accident?

Yes. Car accident, truck accident, motorcycle accident and slip and fall injuries are a core part of our caseload, including whiplash and soft-tissue neck and back injury. Bring any paperwork from the accident and details of the claim if one has been opened. We document treatment to the standard your attorney and insurer will need, and we work with personal injury attorneys across Corpus Christi.

Does treatment hurt?

No. Treatment should not be painful. Some techniques produce temporary soreness afterwards, similar to the feeling after unfamiliar exercise, which usually settles within a day. Tell your clinician if anything is painful during a session — the technique or the intensity gets adjusted, not pushed through.

What if my pain comes back after treatment ends?

Flare-ups happen, particularly with long-standing problems. You are given a home program designed to keep the gains, and you can book a review appointment rather than starting the whole process again. Most recurrences settle in far fewer sessions than the original episode.

Do you see patients on weekends?

The clinic is open Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Sunday appointments are available by arrangement. Call (361) 226-4600 to check availability.
